We start out this year with a focus on democracy. Why? It is the aspiration citizens share worldwide—transparency, genuine choice in elections, citizen-responsive governance, human rights and inclusiveness, youth-centered investments, and women’s empowerment. Now through International Day of Democracy in September, our “Democracy Is” campaign will show how USAID supports people advocating for democratic values, economic opportunity, justice, and peace.
