Administrator Samantha Power led the U.S. delegation to the January inauguration of Guatemala President Bernardo Arévalo, and expressed support for Guatemalans who made their voices heard and tirelessly defended their democracy—including on that very day. Power and the new administration agreed to work together on advancing economic prosperity, security, and democracy. And they also discussed ways to expand legal labor pathways, including temporary work visas. USAID will also launch a new project to help rural Guatemalans better access financial services to build small- and medium-sized enterprises. And Power announced plans for a new U.S.-backed program to support women entrepreneurs.
