Administrator Samantha Power traveled to two Pacific Islands countries this month to highlight USAID's efforts there and emphasize the U.S. Government's commitment to the region. USAID opened a new Country Representative Office in Papua New Guinea and a new Mission in Fiji that will expand our work to combat climate change, empower women and girls, improve health care, and promote good governance and democracy. “As we open this new chapter in our partnership,” says Power, “our focus will be on supporting the extraordinary leaders across the Pacific who themselves are driving urgently needed change.”
