On Feb. 6, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Türkiye, followed by thousands of aftershocks and another magnitude 7.5 earthquake. USAID immediately deployed a Disaster Assistance Response Team and two U.S. urban search and rescue teams to help find survivors. The U.S. has committed $185 million in assistance for the response in Türkiye and Syria. More than 47,000 people have been confirmed dead.
