In a major policy speech, USAID Administrator Samantha Power called for reclaiming and accelerating progress in public health around the world after significant declines in global life expectancy exacerbated by COVID-19, the global food crisis, ongoing conflicts, and a changing climate. In “A Century Of Global Health Cannot End With Us,” she said the trajectory of global health can be reversed by turning COVID-19 into a manageable illness, building defenses against future pandemic threats, and investing in primary health care workers.
