On April 22, Secretary Pompeo announced an additional $270 million in foreign assistance to help some of the most at-risk countries mitigate the impacts of COVID-19. To date, USAID and State Department commitments total $775 million for the global response to the pandemic. Decades of historic U.S. investments in global health programs have better equipped countries’ health systems and frontline health workers to respond in times of crisis, including today’s collective fight against COVID-19.
